I have been meaning to clear through specific areas of my room for quite a while now. I have the occasional ‘move around belongings so I can’t see them anymore’ sort of thing every now and again but as it’s almost April I have no more excuses. I just emptied one drawer and it didn’t feel therapeutic like I thought a big clear out would. Why I own 7 really terrible bras that don’t fit me is quite perplexing, and why I needed so many banana-printed socks at one point in my life is beyond me too.
As I haven’t been rushing in and out of London for class I’ve instead taken some time to slow down. I still work on the weekends but I’m using the rest of my week to sort through things whilst trying to be productive with my life too. Last week I decided to drive into town for ice cream. I ended up getting a really delicious panini (mozzarella, salami, tomato and basil) from a little cafe I used to go to on my lunch breaks when I was studying for my A-Levels. I accidentally forgot my earphones but I had a book with me and it turned out to be a really lovely afternoon.
Taking the time to just relax, appreciate things and read a good book is helping me feel more inspired and less under pressure from myself to constantly be doing something. I’ve caught up with old friends, spent time in the library, made plans for the future and all in all feel like I’m in a really good place.
Hope you all have exciting plans for Easter weekend!

The weather last week made me feel like finally, Spring had arrived. As a lover of winter, I contradict myself and admit that I am in fact very partial to a warm spring evening, especially in London. One where it's still light at 7pm and you can just about get away with buying a mango smoothie from Pret.
Unfortunately, we were met with more snow at the weekend here in England and it's mid-March. Mid-March. Not famed for our lovely hot summers, this extended winter we are currently experiencing is making it fairly tricky to know exactly what to wear. Do I need a hat and scarf? am I going to get stuck in the snow somewhere? Will I regret not putting my sunglasses in my bag just in case the sun comes out for 5 minutes later in the day? Hmmmm.
Hoping that the days of me sitting riverside opposite the London Eye eating hot soup by myself are long gone, here is a round-up of my favourite fits I've seen on Instagram as the warmer months approach. Always looking for style inspiration, the recent KITH Women's collection has made me want to add a couple of pieces to my wardrobe. Emphasis on a couple. As the snow melts, I hope to transition into joggers and bodysuits for comfort above anything.

3. Polo Ralph Lauren 1/4 zip Vintage Polo Sport sweatshirt (from ASOS Marketplace store The SE Archive)
4. Travel Mug (a new essential edition which I am so grateful for)
5. Fashion Journalism by Julie Bradfod (already started reading this on my morning commute)
6. HMTL and CSS: Design and Build Websites by Jon Duckett (have wanted to learn to code for agessss)
7. Lush Cup O'Coffee (after seeing this ToThe9s YouTube video)
As mentioned in my previous post, I recently turned 23. I had a lovely birthday spent with family and friends so I thought I would share with you a few of the items I was lucky enough to receive. The Glossier products oh my gosh, they are incredible! I've instantly worked them into my daily skincare routine with no problems at all. I'm actually trying to cut back on the amount of make up I wear and these beauty items are really helping me feel confident about my skin.
I am so thankful to my family for such wonderful gifts! :-)

(carrot cake of my dreams @societycafe in Oxford)
Okay, so just I'm drafting this as I sit at my desk with Lush's Cup O' Coffee coating the majority of my face. I feel pretty good about my current skincare routine (its been a week) and I've got to say that I've already noticed a difference in my complexion. I get those small red spots that just seem to stay on my face never coming to a head and I've decided enough is enough. Acquiring a new moisturiser, Glossier's infamous 'Solution' and a clay face mask I feel like I'm now on my way to having glowing skin by summer, fingers crossed.
So, I've recently turned 23. Not that I was expecting to wake up and feel totally different, but 18 year old me definitely thought I would have my life totally sussed out by now. Not to say that I don't appreciate where I'm currently at, I do and I feel extremely fortunate to be able to study something I am so passionate about. My birthday was lovely. I went for drinks on Friday night with some close friends in London and I spent my birthday day with my family at home - which reminds me, there's a half eaten tiramisu in the fridge with my name on it, literally.
^ the places we went in London. Pizza Pilgrims and Ace Hotel in Shoreditch for drinks + dessert!
I've missed doing these roundup lists so here's a couple of things I'm loving at the moment:
I just finished rereading Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. I must've read this ages ago but it's honestly such a great book. It's made my morning commute 10 times faster. (Amazon - £5 paperback)
I got my nails done at Wah Nails last Wednesday and I'm completely obsessed with them! £55 - there are cheaper places you can go for sure but it was so cool in there, I'd definitely go again and it was such a nice treat for my birthday! (scroll down for photo)
I'm seeing so many good outfits on Instagram lately (this, and this, and this)
Been listening to a lot of music by a band called Wet, super chilled vibes ~
PAQ accessories on a budget video, easily one of my favourite channels out there at the moment (link)

Recently I've found that I am totally unable to get a good nights sleep. I'm usually awake until 2 or 3 in the morning with not an ounce of fatigue every single day of the week. I've tried counting sheep, I've changed my pillows, some nights I even sleep at the end of my bed and now I'm tired of being tired.
As I rely on Google to answer most of life's questions, "how do you get a good nights sleep?" is my latest enquiry. The advice out there is pretty broad and to my dismay, many of the outcomes are things I just can't change in my day to day routine. Aiming for a set bedtime every night isn't possible and I don't especially want to rearrange my whole room. As I didn't find the alternative information already available to be that helpful, over the past few days I've been compiling a list of all the things I think I can change whilst offering any advice on how to get the best nights sleep. Plus these tips are basically all free unless you want to go out and buy a magazine to read before bed :-)
Do's of Getting a Good Night Sleep:
1. Have some water on your bedside table/within reach at night. I always find it tricky to sleep without a glass of water by my bed.
2. PODCASTS are your best friend. Podcasts have been an absolute Godsend in helping me get to sleep. There are literally tonnes out there to choose from and I'm currently listening to one about House Plants. It's great. (see below for my favourites)
3. Read something, maybe an article in a magazine, newspaper or just a chapter from your favourite book. (No to reading a Kindle and anything on your phone/laptop/tablet)
4. I'm currently giving this app 'Headspace' a go after seeing it advertised so many times on YouTube. It's about meditation and taking the time in the day to just slow down and relax. I'm only on the second one out of the Basic category so I'll have to keep you all updated on how it goes!
Don'ts of Getting a Good Night Sleep:
1. I find that listening to music doesn't help :-(
2. Don't try to do any outstanding university/school work before bed - even for 10 minutes. When I walk into my room I see my desk first and always think I should sit down and do a little more writing - wrong, go to bed.
3. Avoid taking naps during the day. This is something I'm really trying to improve :-(
4. No CAFFEINE before bed. I'm a decaf tea and coffee advocate and I was reading today in the Evening Standard magazine that you shouldn't have caffeine after 2pm. Anytime before then is fine as it gives it a chance to get out your system before bed.
5. Avoid watching a film/starting a new series on Netflix before bed. 1 episode turns into 3 and then it ends on a cliffhanger so you watch 2 more and then before you know it, it's 5am.
This is just a round up of things I'm trying my hardest to put into practice to get the best nights sleep I can. Some things may work for you, some things may not. If you have any tips or things you do to get the best night sleep leave a comment down below!

**I wrote this last night before heading out to dinner for my older brother's birthday and ran out of time to post it!
I'm currently at my desk wearing two pairs of socks, a heat-tech layer with a t-shirt over the top, a pair of jeans and I'm about to put my Dr. Martens on for the first time since I was 18. There is a light dusting of snow outside but alas not quite enough to go sledging. As you can tell I am coping with the unexpected cold weather well. Along with the rest of the country, I am undeniably and unfortunately poorly equipped for snow.
I watched this youtube video at the beginning of the February to get inspiration for winter outfits. What I remember most from @elliqa's outfit video is her scarf. I neeeed that big scarf. Though her exact one isn't linked she lists a similar one from Weekday.
Tuva Shawl Scarf // Weekday // £35
Other Noteworthy Scarves:
Pleated Wool Scarf // COS // £49
Oversized Striped Scarf // AndOtherStories // £59
Ribbed Cashmere Scarf // AndOtherStories // £69
