Padella, Borough Market Review

Last night I went for dinner at a little restaurant in Borough Market called Padella with my best friend Emily and her two flatmates, Sydney and Ilaria. I’ve never been before but oh my god, it was so good. The portion sizes are perfect and the pasta is all freshly made.

We had to queue for about 20 minutes outside as it busier than we anticipated - we even arrived at around 5:30pm and people were already waiting! It was definitely worth the wait however and we got a nice little corner table downstairs. The restaurant is on two levels and fairly small on the inside, but there are loads of tables and places to sit at the bar and outside.

As a starter we decided to share the Padella sourdough bread and burrata (Italian cheese) which was so yummy. As a cheese lover this was a great choice. Everyone else had eaten there for dinner before so they chose this starter and i'm so glad they did! After much deliberation and even though there wasn't much to choose from, I had the pappardelle with sausage and fennel ragu for my main. It wasn't heavy at all and the portion size was just the right amount - so tasty. I can't remember what everyone else had, but Em ordered the fettuccine carbonara which was super light and yummy - I only know this because I pinched a bit of her food!

I spent about £14 including the service charge. We shared tap water which they regularly refilled on the table so we didn't pay for any drinks. For a starter and main i'd say that's reasonably priced for dinner in London! If you want to go somewhere for delicious pasta, a great environment, great service and just a good time I can't recommend this place enough! Be prepared to queue for your pasta as you can't book a table!
