Fitbit Charge 2 Review

Tuesday, 3 January 2017

Apologies in advance for my unmade bed in the background. I’ve been feeling slightly unwell today as I’ve picked up the post-Christmas cold that everyone is currently suffering from. Ok, so, if you’ve read my What I got for Christmas 2016 post, you’ll know I received a Fitbit Charge 2 Heart Rate and Fitness Wristband in black, which is part of the gunmetal series. Both my parents have Fitbit wristbands which they wear everyday, so I feel like i’ve joined a little fitness group in my family!

Packaging // The box it comes in is relatively small as all you receive inside is the wristband itself, a charger and some booklets. The set up of the watch is done either via the Fitbit dashboard online or an app you download for your phone.
Setup //The setup is super straight forward and you just register your wristband with Fitbit to get started. You can enter your weight, age etc and set yourself any goals you want to achieve. It has options to allow you to track your sleep, reach a certain amount of steps per day or burn a certain amount of calories and so forth.
Fit // I think I was worried it would be quite chunky on my wrist if you know what I mean. I have super thin wrists for some reason but this wristband is very comfortable. They also come in a range of widths and I find if I have mine on the tightest it is even too tight! So they cater for a lot of sizes.
Visuals // You can choose from a range of display options that are changeable via the Fitbit dashboard online, as well as tweaking what you want to track. The options on my screen are the clock + how many steps I've done that day, BPM, running/weights, a stopwatch,  and relax which is like breathing exercises.
Experience so far // So when was Christmas, just over a week ago? I’ve had this about a week, and as I wasn’t really moving much out the house I decided to wear it to work and to the gym. The kitchen where I work is situated upstairs, so i’m always running around. The Fitbit tracks how many flights of stairs I take a day, which turned out to be 35 flights one shift for me! I can see how the progress I make everyday can become addictive! When i’ve been wearing it to the gym it records how many minutes I’ve been active for, which is soo helpful to track gym progress. As the app works by the wristband being connected via bluetooth, I can get constant updates on my phone of how i’m doing.

I think the only criticism i’d make is that the charger is quite short and only a USB connection which means I charge it through my laptop or through my phone plug. However, it’s so compact and charges really quickly it barely gets in the way. I recommend one of these if you're a fitness nut or interested in really keeping on top of your health. I also really like that you can turn notifications on and receive text messages through on your Fitbit too, so handy!!

Thank you to my parents for this lovely gift! Also this is my first post of 2017! Lit.
