I was ultra tied up with my ever shifting work rota for the past few days and I feel like I have literally been all over the place! My boyfriend and I have randomly decided to go to Barcelona next week, like very randomly, like as in we booked it the other day. I’m really excited and it should be amazing to go away together, so stay tuned for pictures of that. I’m sure my monochrome wardrobe is going to help me greatly. I’ll try and get some photos up of what I end up wearing as I know my blog is severely lacking on stuff I actually wear.
*Warning, I am extremely pale*
As for the rest of my life, my younger brother has just finished his GCSE exams (congratulations to him, he worked very hard) so we have begun watching Love Island and more or less trying to catch up with that. It’s one of those programmes that is so bad it’s good, like a hybrid between Ex on the Beach and Geordie Shore. I’ve been hitting the gym hard to get into a good routine too, and I no longer feel clueless! It’s miraculous. I have my own little corner of the gym where I can do my squats and lateral raises and planks. I just get on with it. I love it there! I went twice in one day the other day…
Slow down Lauren.

Right, so i’m still toying with the layout and i’m not 100% sure that this is how it will look over time. I need to grid it better, but as of right now, i’m good to share with you my first shopping list! I’ve been looking at these items probably on and off for the past few weeks now and as pay day approaches I finally will have the opportunity to get my hands on some pieces. I’m also selling basically all of my clothes on eBay… to buy more clothes. Lauren logic. I hope you enjoy what I've picked out, if you're living in England you know the weather has been pretty tragic, so i'm more shopping for my holiday away in July.

So, I am a self confessed gym novice. I did try and go when I was back at university in my first year, and by this I mean around 5 or 6 times. I’m one of those people that buys all the activewear, walks into the gym super confident, only to then discover it’s like a foreign planet, gets scared and never returns. My family are heavy gym users, whereas I am just a complete potato, eating cereal and watching a lot of boxsets. However, HOWEVER, this summer with all the hours i’m working i’m finding it hard to have a day when I actually stay in and do nothing, hence why I am now joining the gym. I’ve only been a couple of times so I can’t say much but I am finding it quite hard again. I’m embarrassed by the small weights I can lift and how weak I feel. I don't want to give up though and I know this is all a sign that I have a lot left to work on, plus i’m really excited to see the results!
A lot of places offer student discounts (like mine) so this is obviously a more appealing reason to join. I get access to the pool too, so if i get scared away by the free weights i’ll just go swim instead ahah! I'm finding the Workout Routines on Spotebi really good as a sort of starting point. I do about 20 minutes cardio, just cross trainer stuff and then a 30 minute gym workout followed by a 10 minute cool down.

I felt like the Jeff Koons exhibition deserved its own post - and I had tonnes of pictures from that I wanted to share separately so here is a different post but about London! I had to quickly write down all the stuff we did when I got home as we literally walked so far and I was so tired that I nearly forgot. After the Jeff Koons exhibition we decided to go on the hunt for some food, I really love The Breakfast Club so we ended up at the Soho cafe. However, fate intervened and the queue was literally 4 miles long. We went to this pizza place on Dean Street instead called Pizza Pilgrims and guys, like, it was so delicious. We both had the salami pizza and it was out of this world - I was genuinely full all day.
After that we both agreed that we would like to go find some Boris Bikes and have a little cycle. We walked down from Soho to Piccadilly Circus and then headed for Regents Park. It suddenly got really dark and then absolutely chucked it down out of nowhere. We decided to hide from the weather in Westfield at Shepherds Bush (update, you can't get mini pancakes there anymore) so I had a red velvet cupcake instead. We then went back for dinner at The Breakfast club (take 2) but I was so full from the pizza I only had poached eggs on toast. The eggs there are soooo good, I don't understand how they get them so perfectly runny on the inside and so delicious on the outside too!

After my instagram feed has recently become consumed by images of the Jeff Koons: Now exhibition at Newport Street Gallery, I decided to take my boyfriend there to check it out. With both of us sharing a heavy interest in art, i'm not sure why we have never visited this place before. I've always wanted to see Jeff Koons' work in the flesh after Raf Simons mentions his art in Dior and I (see first photo). I love nothing more than super fresh, minimal, clean, open galleries and Newport Street is exactly that. I often find that I end up admiring the gallery space as well as the artwork itself. I won't ruin it if any of you guys intend to go, but some of his work just fits into the gallery so well. I applaud the transitional spaces and the large open archways between each exhibition. Lucky for us, there was a guy giving a tour about the individual pieces of work which was super helpful and beyond interesting. Though the collection is small, I highly recommend a visit.
This place is just the gift that keeps on giving!

A storm has just started here. I really love sitting inside, watching the lightning and listening out for the thunder.
Anyway, I'm pulling long shifts at work this month to hopefully fund a holiday (or an out of control shopping spree for myself, the latter most likely haha). I still go on family holidays - yes I know, still! Even though my 23 year old big brother has moved out, he will be coming too. I can't imagine my summer without a family vacation, it's a time for the five of us to be together. I'm always so thankful for these holidays too because those days are so few and far between now we are older. Fingers crossed I will actually be able to tan this August.. The Mojitos in the bottom photo can be found at a restaurant in Madrid. I highly recommend trying them if you are ever in the capital, they are delicious.
Hope you all have lovely things planned for summer!

Now I feel like I've come to grips with blogging, I wanted to switch up the theme a little a bit and change the kind of things I post. I have a tendency to cram in photos of what i'm doing in a haphazard way but i'm going to take a new approach. I now have the summer to really pour my time into this. Stay tuned for changes! The template I chose was The Wine Route by Labinastudio £4.27 or $6.00 // Etsy Link Song of the day: 7 - Catfish and the Bottlemen Lauren (this is a photo I took of London from Christmas I think) |
(I've started back working my summer job now so if i'm absent on here it's not intentional)
The other day my mum and I went to this little machine at our local Asda called Coinstar. You basically pour any change you have into it, they take a small percentage of the overall amount and you get the rest in cash! I've had this mug of money on my windowsill for SO long, about 50% of it was full of £1 and £2 coins and the rest was all change. I can't believe I had so much, it's literally such a satisfying process, I always end up collecting all my change in jars and never doing anything with it.
As you can tell from this post, i'm leading an exciting life.
I went to John Lewis with my mum and brother in the week for a quick coffee which was really nice.
I'm super into Flume right now, I loveeee this album.
I'm off to London on Wednesday so i'll take a tonne of snaps to share about that! I really want to see the Jeff Koons exhibition at the Newport Street Gallery - link
Comment below or on my instagram @lawhron if you know any good places to go!

I spend my life online looking at clothes I want and can’t afford, so i’ve thrown together this small outfit of items i’m in love with at the moment. I’ve had such an issue with leggings lately after my beloved American Apparel pair gained an ever growing hole on the back of the calf (probably from where i’ve rushed to pull them on and put my toe through them). I bought a couple of Baziic leggings but the stitching all up the bum has just gone into holes and disintegrated, i promise this is not my doing. I was so sad. I found a pair of ‘double layered’ leggings from Boom Boom the label that i’m currently pining for. They are handmade in England and at a price that makes me hope they’ll last me a good while. Basically a lot of things off their website I now want. All the colours are perfect. I’m tempted to sell my entire wardrobe and just buy one of everything they sell.
The outfit is based around a Bardot top I bought for like, £6 for an insect themed party I went to (don’t ask) and I wore it with a pair of American Apparel disco pants. Now i’m looking for another way to continue wearing it because it’s SO COMFY (without a bra it’s just fab).
The fedora I tried on in All Saints and fell in love.
A leather Grafea backpack with a pom pom is my idea of heaven.
My friend back in Edinburgh has these Adidas trainers and they are so cute in person. A sort of off white / beige / cream colour.
I remember reading about The Design Studio bomber jackets agessssss ago. I’ve never really been into faux fur or really any kind of fur on clothing as I find the texture a bit weird. However, these jackets are stunning. I’m crazy about the ‘Eryl’ jacket and think it’s the perfect piece for a cool summer night in the city with a crop top underneath, cocktail in hand.
